Anchor-Beam table

This piece features a pedestal base built to resemble the magnificent anchor-beams found in the early Dutch barns of Pennsylvania. Designed to withstand the significant spreading forces placed on them by the enormous roof, the fully housed mortise and tenon combine time tested functionality with the elegance of true all wood joinery.  Built from Local beetle kill pine, this base is stained in a dark walnut to bring out the grain, and to provide contrast to the thick cherry top.
Natural Watco Danish Oil was applied to the surface of the top in order to bring out its rich color and to give depth to its texture. This was followed by several coats of a clear hard wax to prevent water staining.
